FARMINGTON, CONN. - Lamont McEvitt, a fine arts and antiques appraiser from Connecticut, recently helped launch Fine Arts Ltd, a venture that he asserts will be “the finest auction house in all of New England.”

While McEvitt’s role is running the operations of the new auction house, its direction comes from the company’s founder, JD DeMatteo. “Having JD as our chairman of the board is the coup de grace,” McEvitt said. “Because of him, our funding and the level of our clientele, both consignors and buyers, is far superior than can be found elsewhere in New England.”

DeMatteo, a well-known businessman from Connecticut, is also a consummate and passionate fine arts collector.

The third founder of the new auction house is DeMatteo’s general counsel, Thomas Kokoska, who brings to the firm a long history of directing high profile, successful business ventures. Kokoska also maintains strong connections to art academia as a fellow of Timothy Dwight College at Yale University.

According to McEvitt, Fine Arts, Ltd seeks to advance both the business and pleasure of art, presenting for auction rare and exceptional works gathered internationally, as well as more conventional old regional and New England paintings.
